Swallow test failed

Monday: We tried another swallow test and he did slightly better, but his swallow isn't functional enough to feed him. He is getting desirous of food that he eagerly did the swallow test this time. Afterward, we did the upper GI test. They put the tube through his nose and down to his belly. That was quick and smooth, but before we could get him back to the room...he pulled the tube out! That was a bummer because we hoped to feed him with the tube. He'll have to wait another day. Tomorrow he gets the feeding tube put in his belly and Wednesday we'll get ho feed him! He'll be so happy to have food in his belly, I'm sure.

Unfortunately, his IV in his hand got clotted, so he needed a new one. After two attempts in his feet, Dr "Bobby" Johnson put one in his groin. Poor kid got stuck repeatedly! We sing the ABC song and Row Row Row your Boat, but it only helps a little. His cry is so sad. He moans and his mouth just opens on the left side.

Matt Lehman stopped by again and offered encouragement. He could really see a difference in Elan. Just had his CO's visit and one of the talks was about how the trials we go through are preparing us for the great tribulation. - erik
