Getting ready

So today I have at least 6 hrs of work to accomplish, packing for us to leave, and organizing our room for my parents to be in while we are away for the 6 to 8 weeks in Indiana.  Needless to say a ton to do!  Thankfully my mom took the boys to the park to be out of the house... photos below.  How fun, right?  I still can't figure out how to get the camera photos to save the right way so sorry for the first one being sideways!

Our neighbor Penny stopped by this AM with 3 goodie bags - so kind!  Food for the trip, apples and a Superman bag of fun things for the boys.  I tell you, so many kind people!

So we are definitely on for next Thursday May 31st start day for Proton Beam!  We have a house waiting for us that we are renting and they are even getting some toys rounded up for the boys. The center caters to brain tumors and get several kids so they totally know what they are doing... so great!

Dr. Douglas emailed us back an answer to a question from last night... if he is only doing this palliative for us.  He responded absolutely not - that he wouldn't do it if it was.  We had been praying to make it really known to us because our group of oncologists here really put it that way to us.  We need hope but not false hope so asked Jehovah to let us know how to go forward... I like the answer!  He also sent us 4 studies with some surviving with less resections and no chemo - just like Elan - and are still NED (no evidence of desease).  Of course the numbers are stacked against us with this cancer and us turning down the high dose chemo but it does let us know it is possible as we had been told from the beginning when looking into Proton Beam.

Our number one goal in life right now is to keep a positive spirit in our home and fill it with joy.  We really feel that our prayers for this has been answered on multiple occasions.  Today Erik called me from work after an email went out he will be on FMLA for 6 to 8 weeks.  Several stopped him and said they had no idea and how can he walk around so happy?  Honestly, it has been easy... so wierd but it has been.  WE just keep praying to keep as positive and to live moment to moment.  We just look at this as our time with Elan and want it to be as wonderful as it can be.  Our prayers have always been answered - even in a matter of seconds to keep it this way.

Finn has been having a hard go of it on and off but this time with the 4 of us together will be so much fun!  Finn is rather bummed because he can't take his bunk bed with him.  I told him we will take a photo we can share with everyone and he still wasnt happy but did say "OK". We are taking our bikes and there are several paths throughout Bloomington so looking forward to that.  I also will put Finn into swim lessons etc so he will have fun!  There are 3 congergations in Bloomington so we are confident we will make new friends too!
